About:
Jenna Weind is an emerging Canadian artist born in New Westminster, BC. She has several large influences in her life including a Chinese and German heritage, extensive travel from an early age, and an upbringing on a small coastal island in BC. This synthesis of culture and diasporic identity is prevalent in her work. Line drawing has consumed her interest from an early age, but more recently, her trajectory has evolved, and she is learning to “draw” with steel.
“Not being attached to one thing, but fluid. Never fixed to an outcome of an idea. Constantly switching and adapting. I think of myself as a response to my outer world. Art has been a way of digesting the world and attempting to connect with it.”
Jenna’s work is characterized by its graphic, fine-flowing line work. It uses controlled chaos, organic shifting imagery that unveils itself the more it is explored. It relies heavily on emotion and presents ethereal, twisted imagery tied with softer elements.
